The Environment Graduate Programme is aimed at people seeking a career, not just a job. Our graduates reflect a broad range of backgrounds, study areas and work and life experiences. Graduates join the programme from all over Australia, and Indigenous Australians are always encouraged to apply.

We invite applications from all academic disciplines, but Graduates with the following disciplines/degrees are highly desirable:

2016 Recruitment Process Update

Applications for the 2016 Graduate Programme closed on Sunday 26 April. Thank you for taking the time to apply for our Programme.

We are currently shortlisting a large volume of applications.

We anticipate that the final assessment process will take place throughout July. We anticipate offers to successful candidates will be made in August.

Online application

All candidates must apply for the Graduate Programme through the online application portal (Current vacancies) during the application period. It is essential that you answer all sections of the application including achievements and work or volunteer experience. All components of your application will be assessed. Assessment Process

Applications will be assessed and shortlisted against the APS Work Level Standards using a number of methods which may include; responses to the selection criteria; attribute testing; video, telephone and/or face-to-face interviews; assessment centers; reference checks and pre-engagement checks.

Position location

All positions are located in Canberra, ACT. Successful candidates will be provided with assistance to help relocate.

Eligibility for the Indigenous Stream Intake

  • Be an Australian Citizen, or will be granted Australian citizenship before January 2016.
  • Have completed at least a three-year degree by 31 December 2015.
  • Can provide evidence of your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
  • Be willing to relocate to Canberra, ACT.

Eligibility for the Graduate Stream Intake

  • Be an Australian Citizen, or will be granted Australian citizenship before January 2016.
  • Have completed at least a three-year degree by 31 December 2015.
  • Be willing to relocate to Canberra, ACT.
