About the Graduate Program

Applications for the 2013 Graduate Program have now closed.

Applications for the 2013 Graduate Program are now progressing through the secondary assessment stage to determine which applicants will be invited to interview. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of secondary assessments mid – late June 2012. We thank you for your patience.

The Australian Government Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities develops and implements national policy, programs and legislation to protect and conserve Australia's environment and heritage and to promote sustainable living within Australia.

The Graduate Program aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to place you in a competitive position within the department and the Australian Public Service (APS). Graduates have the opportunity to work in a diverse and exciting portfolio.

The program consists of a number of key components, including:

You will receive a competitive remuneration package, with a minimum salary of $53 985. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are advanced to the APS4 level and receive a minumum $66 158. (Please note these pay scales come into effect 1 July 2012)

A relocation package of up to $10 000 is also available for interstate applicants. All successful applicants will be required to relocate to Canberra, ACT.
