EN33: Environmental performance of suppliers
Goals 2005-06
Review awareness and application of Parks Australia’s environmental purchasing guidelines in all parks by 2006-07
Performance 2005-06 and trends
Reviews of awareness and application of Parks Australia’s environmental purchasing guidelines took place in some parks, but not all, during 2005-06. Most parks follow environmental purchasing guidelines. New Chief Executive Instructions were issued across the Division and these include the appropriate purchasing guidelines. All staff were made aware of these and have access to them over the intranet.
Information about the environmental performance of suppliers is not currently captured, though tenderers are routinely selected for the best value they provide, including appropriate standards in, for example, waste disposal and chemical use training.
Commentary
Parks rely on a range of contracted services including cleaning, road and track maintenance, waste disposal, pest control, fee collection and campground maintenance. Parks Australia has a procurement policy which requires environmental considerations to be taken into account in the purchase of goods and services.
Goals 2006-07
- Review awareness and application of Parks Australia’s environmental purchasing guidelines in all parks by 2006-07.
