Performance 2005-06 and trends

Electricity usage by SSD (Darwin and Jabiru offices) and Parks Australia North Darwin office has decreased by 1% in megajoules (MJ) per person terms. In absolute terms, total use increased by 4% during the period, attributable to a 5% increase in staff numbers.

Commentary

SSD has continued to promote reduced power consumption by reminding staff to switch lights and computers off when leaving at the end of the day. Air-conditioning is run on a timer and only operates from 7am to 5pm daily, unless activated by staff out of those hours. Staff using both facilities (Darwin and Jabiru) has increased by 5% during 2005-06 and is comparable to the increase in electricity use for this period.
