Performance 2005-06 and trends
Employees are able to access merit reviews of recruitment and employment decisions. In 2005-06, one appeal was made to merit review, which was not upheld. If an employee disagrees with a supervisor’s performance evaluation, they are able to seek a review by a different manager.
The department also makes confidential grievance mechanisms available to employees, which were used by 2 employees in 2005-06. Whistleblowers are protected under section 19 of the Public Service Act 1999.
