B Environmental Management (Sustainable Development) (First Class Hons)
My keen interest in the environment largely developed through visiting national parks with my family and watching those fascinating environmental documentaries commentated by David Attenborough. My interest in all things environmental was heightened by the great Biology and Geography teachers I had at high school.
In spite of this, after leaving school I studied Physiotherapy at university for over a year, before deciding it wasn't for me. After a short break from university and much indecision I enrolled in an Environmental Management course, and haven't looked back since then!
During my final year of undergraduate studies, I routinely applied for just about every job under the sun, but the only one that really appealed to me was the Department graduate program. When I submitted my application, however, I still had serious doubts about whether I could leave my home, family and friends in Brisbane to start a new life in Canberra. It all seemed quite daunting at that stage.
On arriving in Canberra last year for an interview, however, I instantly liked the place and knew straight away that if offered a position in the graduate program I would gladly accept it. Since moving to Canberra and starting the graduate program, a whole new world of opportunities has opened up to me, both on a personal and professional level.
