Environment Australia, 2002
Environment Australia's 2001-02 operating revenues of $550 million exceeded its operating expenses of $504 million, producing a net surplus of $46 million. Operating revenues during 2001-02 were boosted significantly by the recognition of Antarctic Division assets valued at $48 million. The increase in operating expenses during the year resulted mainly from an increase of $34 million in the provisioning for Antarctic base restitution.
Environment Australia closed the year with total equity of $442 million. Closing equity was boosted significantly by a net asset revaluation of $78 million during the year.
Revenues administered on behalf of the Government for 2001-02 amounted to $25 million. Expenses administered on behalf of Government totalled $310 million.
Increases in assets administered on behalf of Government were largely due to increases in the Commonwealth's interest in portfolio authorities during the year.
