Strathfield Council has built a strong track record on the environment and sustainability in recent years by working successfully with the community on a range of initiatives and by joining this program we are providing leadership for our community in addressing a fundamental environmental issue.

Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Community
To date Council has implemented an Energy Smart Homes Policy that involved changes to 4 residential DCPs. These policies have now been superceded by the NSW BASIX program, however the Energy Smart Guideline still provides useful information on energy smart homes to our residents.Council also co-hosted with SEDA - (now DEUS) a solar forum to explore how greater uptake of solar could occur in the residential sector.
Travel
Council is in the process of implementing a Triple Bottom Line Fleet Policy that involves greater uptake of energy efficient vehicles. Council has two petrol/electric hybrid vehicles in its fleet.Corporate

Future greenhouse abatement actions
- We are looking forward to consolidating current actions and developing our future actions through our recent joing with the CCP program.
