About this report
The purpose of this report is to provide the findings of Phase 2B of the E20 ethanol-blend fuel program running at Orbital Engine Company.
The study is an initiative of the Department of the Environment and Heritage project 'Market Barriers to the Uptake of Biofuels - Testing Petrol Containing 20% Ethanol (E20)'. Phase 2B is primarily focussed on uncovering the potential higher mileage issues related to the use of the E20 fuel blend.
The experimental study for Phase 2B was initiated on the 24th of February 2003 and the work scope includes assessing vehicle durability through mileage accumulation, and at specific break points:
- Exhaust emissions measurements
- Fuel consumption measurements
- Engine oil analysis
- Engine wear analysis at completion of mileage accumulation
- Fuel system analysis at completion of mileage accumulation
