Department of the Environment and Heritage, 2001
The Ozone Protection Act 1989 allows for the export of CFCs and HCFCs for use on board ships or aircraft. However, the CFC or HCFC must be used exclusively for meeting the reasonable servicing requirements of air-conditioning or refrigeration equipment on board the ship or aircraft. To monitor these exports, a quarterly report detailing the substance and quantity exported must be submitted to the Minister for Environment and Heritage within 15 days after the end of the quarter.
Please note this requirement relates to the export of new, used, reclaimed and recycled CFCs and HCFCs. It does not relate to CFCs or HCFCs already contained within air-conditioning or refrigeration equipment on board ships or aircraft prior to their departure from Australia.
