Fifty-three fauna and 30 flora applications were received by ABRS for consideration in the 2008–2009 funding round, totalling approximately $4.1 million in requested funding. Approximately $1.5 million was available and 21 new grants were funded in full or part. Twenty-two renewal grants were also approved for funding.
