Introduction

Species belonging to the family Arietellidae can be found in both coastal seas and oceanic waters, and are generally hyperbenthic. Ten genera are recognised, and 36 species are known. Additionally, there is one genus inquirendum and one genus inceratae sedis. See Boxshall & Halsey (2004: 62) for more details as well as a key to the genera.
