Family BODOTRIIDAE Scott, 1901

Introduction

The Bodotriidae are a relatively large family of 31 genera and about 317 species. Twelve genera and 82 species are known from Australian waters.

 

Diagnosis

Males are indistinguishable from males of Nannastacidae.

Female. Antenna 2 minute, much smaller than antenna 1, peduncle with 3 articles. Mandibles navicular. Maxilliped 3 exopod present. Pereopod 1 simple or with group of long setae on propodus. Pereopod 3 exopod present, fully developed, rudimentary or absent. Uropod endopod with 1 or with 2 articles. Telson not articulated, fused to last pleonite. (Generated from Watling & Gerken 2002)
