Family BOREOMYSIDAE Holt & Tattersall, 1905
Introduction
The Boreomysidae were introduced as a subfamily by Holt & Tattersall (1905) and raised to family status by Tchindonova (1981). They are generally meso-bathypelagic mysidaceans, widely distributed throughout the world oceans. The family comprises two genera (Boreomysis Sars, 1869 and Birsteiniamysis Tchindonova, 1981) and about 38 species (Meland 2002). One species is known from Australian waters. Müller (1993) and Price et al. (2001) catalogued the group.
