Introduction
The family Cyatholipidae is a member of the superfamily Araneoidea, and includes a number of genera. The first Australian species to be named, Teemenaarus silvestris, was described in its own family, the Teemenaaridae, but was later recognised as a member of the Cyatholipidae.
Diagnosis
Cyatholipids are araneoids that differ from all other spiders by the presence of a broad, slit-like posterior spiracle that is situated mid-way between the spinnerets and the epigastric fold.
