Introduction

The subclass Copepoda currently contains nine orders (Boxshall & Halsey 2004). This checklist includes all the valid species recorded from Australia, which were known to the author at the time of publication (June 2007). The checklist contains 496 species in 205 genera and 73 families. The statistics for the Harpacticoida component of the checklist are 163 species in 76 genera and 25 families. Please contact the senior author (GW-S) or ABRS (abrs@environment.gov.au) if you are aware of any species that are missing from this list of Australian species.
