Species Cryptotermes dudleyi Banks, 1918

    Type data:
     Holotype MCZ soldier (apparently lost), Panama.
    Type locality references:
    Chhotani, O.B. 1970. Taxonomy, zoogeography and phylogeny of the genus Cryptotermes (Isoptera: Kalotermitidae) from the Oriental Region. Memoirs of the Zoological Survey of India 15(1): i 1-81 [41] (reports holotype apparently lost).

 

Distribution

Extra Distribution Information

Cryptotermes dudleyi Banks is not established on mainland Australia. It has been detected as quarantine interceptions across the north coast of Australia — WA, NT and Qld. There is a 1933 record of C. dudleyi from a building on Thursday Island (probably introduced), but recent collections have failed to relocate it (R.H. Eldridge, pers. comm., 2006); Papuan, Indo-Malayan, Malagasy, Afrotropical, Neotropical regions, islands in Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Terrestrial.

Extra Ecological Information

Social, drywood, nests primarily in timber in service, minor economic importance.
