Introduction

This is a reasonably common species in SE Queensland and in the Sydney basin of New South Wales. It is presumed to occur also on the NSW North Coast. It has been collected on Mexican mock orange (Choisya ternata) and other Rutaceae.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Black, pale beneath; some red streaks on the metathorax and on the base of the abdomen. Abdomen bright green, black at the base. Legs mostly piceous. Fore wings blackish, brown with a few black dots towards the tips. Hind wings vitreous, towards the base bright crimson, with a dark brown border which is widened hindward, paler brown about the interior border; veins black. Length of the body 4–5 lines; of the wings 11–13 lines. (Walker 1858)
