Introduction

Two subfamilies, the Eriocottinae and the Compsocteninae, are included in the family but were previously misplaced in the Incurvariidae and the Psychidae (Nielsen 1978). A single species in the Eriocottinae is known from Australia (Nielsen & Robinson 1991). Other species of Eriocottinae are found in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
