Introduction

Species of the family Euchaetidae are marine, planktonic, medium to large-sized calanoids. They are predatory copepods, and are essential in oceanic zooplankton communities (from epipelagic to bathypelagic). Most species inhabit deeper waters. Two genera, and 75 species are known. See Boxshall & Halsey (2004: 118) for more details as well as a key to the genera.
