Genus Esthiopterum Harrison, 1916

    Type species:
     Pediculus gruis Linnaeus, 1758 by original designation (as Esthiopterum (Lipeurus) ebraeum Burmeister (=Pediculus gruis Linnaeus, 1758).

PHILOPTERIDAE: Esthiopterum capreolum (Gervais, 1844) [erroneously listed by Thompson & Plomley (1938: 115) from Cacatua galerita (Latham, 1790) is a nomen dubium from a non-Australian host (Guimarães 1974: 187) as Lipeurus capreolus Gervais, 1844)].

PHILOPTERIDAE: Esthiopterum trabeculum (Piaget, 1885) [listed by Thompson & Plomley (1938) (op. cit. p. 115) from Probosciger aterrimus (Gmelin, 1788) is a straggler or contaminant from a hornbill (Bucerotidae) (Hopkins & Clay (1952: 63) as Buceronirmus trabeculus (Piaget, 1885))].

PHILOPTERIDAE: Esthiopterum forficuloides (Neumann, 1890) [listed by Thompson & Plomley (1938) (op. cit. p. 115) from Psephotus varius Clark, 1910 is a nomen dubium and probably a straggler or contaminant (Price & Clayton, 1983: 66) as Psittaconirmus forficuloides (Neumann, 1890)].
