    Type species:
     Ricinus gallinae De Geer, 1778 by subsequent designation, see Johnston, T.H. & Harrison, L. 1911. Notes on some Mallophagan generic names. Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales 36(2): 321-328 [326] (as Goniocotes gallinae De Geer (=Goniocotes hologaster Nitzsch)).

PHILOPTERIDAE: Goniocotes candidus pellucidus Piaget, 1885 [listed by Johnston & Harrison (1912: 12) from Glyciphila (=Ramsayornis) fasciata Gould, 1843 is a contaminant from Ptilinopus porphyraceus (Temminck, 1821) from an undetermined Pacific island (Tendeiro 1976: 47) as Auricotes pellucidus (Piaget, 1885)].

PHILOPTERIDAE: Goniocotes latus major Neumann, 1890 [listed by Thompson & Plomley (1938: 112) from Probosciger aterrimus (Gmelin, 1788) is a contaminant from Goura cristata (Pallas, 1764) from New Guinea (Hopkins & Clay (1952: 180) as Kodocephalon major (Neumann, 1890))].

PHILOPTERIDAE: Goniocotes fasciatus Piaget, 1880 [listed by Johnston & Harrison (1912: 8) from Calopsittacus novaehollandiae (= Nymphicus hollandicus (Kerr, 1792)) is a contaminant from a South American species of Ara (Guimarães 1975: 259) as Paragoniocotes fasciatus (Piaget, 1880)].
