Introduction

Members of the Haplotaxidea are contained within two families: the Haplotaxidae and Tiguassidae, the latter with just one species (Tiguassu reginae) originally placed within the former and not found in Australia. These worms have been seen by some authors as containing descendants of the earliest lineage of oligochaetes.
