Introduction

Species in the family Hatschekiidae parasitise actinopterygian fishes, and are found on the gills of these host fish. The members of some genera are eel parasites. The family comprises eight genera, and 104 species. See Boxshall & Halsey (2004: 766) for more details as well as a key to the genera.
