Family JANIRELLIDAE Menzies, 1956

Introduction

The majority of the Janirellidae Menzies, 1956 (as Ianirellidae) species are known from depths greater than 500 metres, with approximately half of these species known from depths greater than 3000 metres. The family had been revised on several occasions however, Just (2009) considers all diagnoses, except for the original by Menzies (1956) and his (the most recent, see Just 2009) to be erroneous
