Suborder LOPHOGASTRIDA

Introduction

Members of the Lophogastrida are shrimp-like crustaceans that are related to the Mysida. They are pelagic predators usually 10–80 mm long, though the largest species, Gnathophausia ingens, can be up to 350 mm in length. Less than 50 species are known and they occur throughout the world's oceans. They have been catalogued by Müller (1993).
