Family NANNASTACIDAE Bate, 1866

Introduction

The Nannastacidae are a small family of 14 genera and 326 species. Seven genera and 40 species are known from Australian waters.

 

Diagnosis

Males are indistinguishable from males of Bodotriidae.

Female. Antenna 2 minute, much smaller than antenna 1, peduncle with 2 articles. Mandibles truncate. Maxilliped 3 exopod present or absent. Pereopod 1 simple. Pereopod 3 exopod absent. Uropod endopod with 1 article. Telson not articulated, fused to last pleonite. (Generated from Watling & Gerken 2002)
