Introduction

The species of Notodelphyidae are associated with commensal forms generally inhabiting the pharynx or atrium of their solitary or compound ascidian host. Some species are parasitic and can be found living in cysts inside the host's tissue. Forty-six genera are recognised in this family, and over 100 species. Additionally, there are four genera inquirenda. See Boxshall & Halsey (2004: 598) for more details as well as a key to the genera.
