Family ONCHOBOTHRIIDAE Braun, 1900
Introduction
The tetraphyllidean family Onchobothriidae is defined by the presence of four muscular bothridia which are often divided transversely into loculi, and the presence, anterior to the bothridia, of simple or forked sclerotised hooks (Euzet 1994). The family is common in Australian elasmobranch fishes, with many species yet to be formally described. Nine genera and 50 species are listed here.
