Introduction

This is a small family in Australia, although one is without described species here. It has its greatest diversity in the northern hemisphere and probably all Australian species are introduced. Australia has 3 genera and 6 species and subspecies, but there are undescribed species. All forms are soil-dwelling.

 

Diagnosis

Characterised by: thorax I setose, mandibular plate present, pseudoocelli present, ocelli and pigment usually absent, antenna III organ complex, with enlarged sensory papillae and rods.
