Family OXYOPIDAE Thorell, 1870

Introduction

The Oxyopidae are a small but common family of spiders believed to play a substantial role in insect crop pest control as the spiders reach very high densities in grasslands and crops.

 

Diagnosis

Fast-moving, 3-clawed hunting spiders, nominally included in the Lycosoidea, with the legs covered with long strong erect spines.
