Order PRISTIOPHORIFORMES
Introduction
The order Pristiophoriformes includes a single extant family of sawsharks, the Pristiophoridae. Sawsharks are distinguished from the sawfishes by having the gill openings on the sides of the body as in other sharks (Compagno 1984).
