Family PROTEOCEPHALIDAE La Rue, 1911

Introduction

The currently documented Australian fauna comprises eight species from amphibians and reptiles. None is known from fishes in Australia, although overseas proteocephalidean cestodes are most abundant in freshwater fishes.

The taxonomic arrangement used here follows Rego (1994).
