Family STENETRIIDAE Hansen, 1905
Introduction
The type genus Stenetrium Haswell, first described from Australia, was diagnosed by Wolff (1962) and more recently by Serov & Wilson (1995) who reviewed the family and provided a key to the eight genera. The diagnosis here distinguishes the family from Pseudojaniridae.
Diagnosis
Male pleopod 2 peduncle lacking posterior extension; appendix masculina with short posterior groove or pocket originating at midlength; exopod inserting distomedially; penes positioned midway between coxae and medial sternal spine, directed medially, distally rounded.
