Species Tumulitermes mareebensis (Hill, 1922)

  • Eutermes mareebensis Hill, G.F. 1922. Descriptions and biology of some north Australian termites. Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales 47: 142-160 pls xxiii-xxv [151].
    Type data:
Lectotype NMV No. T-10881 major soldier (Hill, G.F. 1942. Termites (Isoptera) from the Australian Region. Melbourne : Council for Scientific and Industrial Research 479 pp. 24 pls. [242] mentioned the 'Holotype winged adult, morphotype soldiers of large form and worker' of 'Eutermes mareebensis' 'in the National Museum, Melbourne'. This constitutes a lectotype designation. However, the original type series consisted of major soldiers and workers only, the alate being described in Hill, G.F. 1929. Notes on Australian termites (Isoptera). Descriptions of new species. Proc. R. Soc. Vict. ns 41: 85–96 pl. xiv [90]. The designation of an alate as lectotype was, therefore, invalid), Mareeba, QLD.
Paralectotype(s) NMV worker (morphotype); NMV soldiers, workers (type colony).
