Census of Australian Vertebrate Species: Biocodes

In the Australian fauna, some groups have been given Biocodes, such as the Census of Australian Vertebrate Species (CAVS) for Amphibia, Aves, Mammalia (Eutheria, Marsupialia, Prototheria) and Reptilia and Codes for Australian Aquatic Biota (CAAB) for aquatic organisms, mainly fishes.

The CAAB lists can be accessed from the CAAB home page or for the fishes: Pisces (3 separate groups) and Agnatha the CAAB codes have been included in the CAVS list as well. The CAAB codes are 8 digit codes starting with '37' e.g. 37003002.

Please read the What's New page for more information on the current status of the updates to the CAVS codes.
