Flora of Australia Volume 1—Introduction (1st Edition)

OUT OF PRINT

The Flora of Australia series includes all flowering and non-flowering plants known to be indigenous or naturalised in Australia. This introductory volume provides an overview of the series and important background information on the flora of Australia. It contains chapters on the history and purpose of the Flora of Australia project, the origin and evolution of the Australian flora, and the systematic arrangement of plant families. It also includes a key to the identification of families of flowering plants and a glossary of botanical terms.

The book was published in 1981, with a softcover reprint in 1993, but it was felt that an expanded, and substantially rewritten, text was needed. The result is the second edition, published in 1999, more than twice as long as the first, and with a complementary interactive key to the families.
