An extensive and important distributary and floodout system providing occasional habitat for waterbirds.
General description
Strzelecki Creek is an overflow of the Cooper Creek and a major feeder stream of Lake Blanch, a shallow freshwater ephemeral lake1, 2. The system is entirely unregulated.
ANZECC-listed species
The dusky hopping-mouse Notomys fuscus (E) has been recorded from sand-dunes along the Strzelecki2.

Key threats
Grazing by stock and rabbits, and alterations to flow regimes.
Land tenure
Pastoral leases; part of the system lies in the Strzelecki Regional Reserve.
