The Natural Resource Management Ministerial Council finalised the review of the National Strategy for the Conservation of Australia's Biological Diversity (1996) in 2010. A new strategy, Australia's Biodiversity Conservation Strategy 2010-2030 (2010) is available at www.environment.gov.au/biodiversity/strategy/index.html
The Department's website will be progressively updated to reflect the new strategy.

About the strategy
Australia's first national biodiversity strategy, the National Strategy for the Conservation of Australia's Biological Diversity, was prepared by the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC) and endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments in 1996.
The strategy fulfills Australia's obligations under the international Convention on Biological Diversity.
