Nomination to list an ecological community as endangered under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999
A nomination was received seeking the listing of the 'Austrostipa aristiglumis Grasslands of the Liverpool Plains in NSW' as an endangered ecological community under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The assessment of this nomination has been incorporated into the review of the listed ecological community 'Bluegrass (Dichanthium spp.) dominant grasslands of the Brigalow Belt Bioregions (North and South)'.
This nomination was were prepared and submitted by an independent third party whose identity is confidential. Confidential parts of this nomination, such as the names of individuals who provided unpublished information and sensitive location information, have been blacked out.
The views expressed within the nomination do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Australian Government or the Threatened Species Scientific Committee (the Committee). The Australian Government and the Committee do not accept responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of the contents of the nomination.
The Committee welcomes the views of experts, stakeholders and the general public on this nomination, and the technical workshop report, to further inform its nomination assessment process. To assist in this matter, the Committee has identified a series of specific questions on which it seeks particular guidance. These are at the end of the technical workshop report.
Information in this nomination, the subsequent workshop report, as well as other information received by the Department, will be used by the Committee to advise the Minister for the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts on amendments to the list of threatened ecological communities under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999.
The public comment period closes on 6 May 2008.
