Department of the Environment, 2015

About the document

In June 2015, the environment ministers in each Australian jurisdiction agreed to progress an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding on a common assessment method for the listing of threatened species and ecological communities. The memorandum provides the framework for the implementation of a common assessment method. It commenced in October 2015 following signing by the former Australian Government Minister for the Environment, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, and Western Australian Minister for Environment, the Hon Albert Jacob MLA. The memorandum has since been signed by the following governments: Australian Capital Territory (November 2015), Tasmania (December 2015), Northern Territory (March 2016), New South Wales (October 2016), Queensland (March 2017) and Victoria (April 2018).
