About the guidelines

The checklist and guidelines are provided to assist those preparing recovery plans under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) with meeting the legislative and process requirements. The checklist should be completed for recovery plans for terrestrial species and ecological communities submitted to the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts for adoption or making under the EPBC Act.

The explanatory notes detail:

  1. the processes to be followed during recovery plan development
  2. issues to be considered during development
  3. information to be included in recovery plans.
