Current and historical range of Malleefowl across Australia

Figures 5 and 6. Distribution of Malleefowl and extent of clearing in the wheatbelt of WA (Figure 5) and in south eastern Australia (Figure 6) as shown by satellite imagery. The current distribution of Malleefowl (since 1981) is enclosed by solid lines, and the past distribution by dotted lines. Native habitats have mostly been cleared (lighter regions) and within its current range Malleefowl persist mostly in small and often isolated remnants (darker regions), many of which are too small to feature in these images. Landsat MSS mosaic acquired in 1990-1992 (Geoimage & CSIRO Office of Space Science and Applications).
