Project Title: Threatened species protection project for Wambo Shire Uplands

This project will target the protection of threatened vegetation communities in the Wambo Shire Uplands, including the endangered Brigalow/Belah, and Semi-evergreen vine thickets of the Brigalow Belt (North and South) and Nandewar Bioregions.

Project Title: Cascades Gardens Flying-Fox colony enhancement and management

Bat Rescue and other partners plan to stabilize existing roosting sites for the Grey-headed Flying-fox, and will also introduce a community education program to raise public awareness of the plight of this vulnerable species.

Project Description:
Roaming and feral cats at Hamilton are impacting on the critically endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot. This project plans to raise community awareness about responsible pet ownership and work with local government to implement a feral cat trapping program.

Project Title: Restoration and rehabilitation of the Bookaar Grassland Reserve

Project Description:
The Bookaar Grassland Reserve contains significant Plans Grassy Woodland species, which has been damaged by grazing and introduced species. The project will restore the reserve through revegetation.

Project Title: Protection and recovery of SE Mallee Chariot Wheels

Project Description:
The Birchip Landcare Group plan to implement priority actions listed in the National Recovery Plan for Maireana cheelii (Chariot Wheels) and the SE Mallee Biodiversity Action Plan. Some of the conservation activities will include habitat mapping, fencing and signage.

Project Title: Protection and enhancement of Dianella amoena (Matted Flax-lily) habitat

This project aims to help restore 2.25 hectares of warm temperate rainforest around the north arm at Lakes Entrance. Similar restoration of areas near Lakes Entrance provided feeding habitat within two years for the nationally-listed Grey-headed Flying Fox.

Project Title: Desert partnership: conserving rock wallabies in the Calvert range

The only remaining western desert population of the vulnerable Black-footed Rock-wallaby exists in the Calvert Range. This project aims to involve the Martu people in monitoring and managing the wallabies, along with other threatened species in the area.

Project Title: Encouraging community involvement in the recovery of the Margaret River Marron

Project Description:
The Margaret River Marron ( Cherax tenuimanus ) is under threat from the introduced 'smooth' Marron and populations have declined dramatically over the last 20 years. This project will undertake habitat and distribution monitoring and increase public awareness of the Margaret River Marron.

Project Title: Recovery of critically endangered Wheatbelt Plants in WA
Grant: $30,000

Project Description:
This project will use new and innovative biotechnological research to improve translocation for three endangered plants - the Hoffman's Spider-orchid (spp. Graniticola ), Underground Orchid and Bancrofts Symonanthus.

Project Title: Developing on-ground management options for the Bilby ( Macrotis lagotis ) in the Edgar Range area of the southern Kimberley
Grant: $18,000
Proponent: Jarlmadangah Burru Aboriginal Community
Project Description:
This represents the second stage of a two-phased project to develop on-ground management options for the Bilby in and around Edgar Range area of the southern Kimberley. Traditional owners will use data collected under Stage 1 to carry out fire management, and work with neighbouring landholders to explore the development of a regional Bilby management plan.

Project Title: Community monitoring of Rock-wallabies in Cape Range
Grant: $6,000
Proponent: Cape Conservation Group
Project Description:
The Cape Conservation Group plans to conduct a survey on the abundance and distribution of the Black-footed Rock-wallaby on North-West Cape. Four surveys, which will involve local Exmouth District residents, will take place over a one-year period using scat identification and trapping and sighting methods.

Project Title: NEWroc coordinated pest management
Grant: $16,500
Proponent: Trayning Land Conservation District Committee
Project Description:
This project will assist landholders in actively managing pests in a coordinated effort as part of 'Pest Week' held every year in March. Foxes will be specifically targeted with baiting in known Malleefowl habitat.

Project Title: Dampier Downs natural springs and endangered species conservation

Project Description:
This project aims to protect rare and threatened species such as the Black-footed Rock-wallaby and Edgar Range Pandanas. Around 38 kilometres of fencing will manage and exclude stock from the fragile natural springs habitat.

Project Title: Lake Gladstone/Glenroy rehabilitation project

Project Description:
The Mount House Pastoral Partnership aims to build a 5 kilometre fence around Lake Gladstone to regenerate and protect habitat for the vulnerable Red Goshawk and endangered Gouldian Finch.

Project Title: Poison Gully Reserve habitat creation

Project Description:
This project plans to protect, restore and promote the threatened ecological community of the Poison Gully Reserve. Species in the area include the endangered Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo. Fencing and community workshops are some of the conservation activities that will take place.
