Benchmark Two - Establish Baseline Position
Proportion of Local Government area assessed for existing state of biodiversity and natural resources.
Aim: using information and data from the Toolbox, councils can establish their baseline position and focus efforts on pertinent actions.
Actions to Assist in Benchmark Attainment
- Using information and data available both locally and in the Tools and Resources page to identify or map:
- Distribution of local endemic species;
- Location of remnant vegetation;
- Local endangered and threatened species and ecological communities;
- Location and health of known habitat; and
- Relevant threatening processes.
- Compiling collected data in specifically designed databases.
- Develop digitised maps (utilising GIS technology) to allow visual reflection of improvements in biodiversity and natural resources over time.
