CSIRO Entomology has prepared a draft environment assessment report under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to include A. pisum (pea aphid) on the live import list for research purposes, as part of an international pea aphid genome project.
The report has been prepared against the terms of reference for non-biological control agents and assesses the suitability of A. pisum for import into Australia.
Comments are invited on the draft report. It is available for public comment for 20 business days, closing on 18 November 2009.
All comments received will be provided to the applicant to address in finalising the assessment report. Any relevant information provided will be considered by the Department prior to briefing the Minister.
