A draft environment assessment report has been prepared by the South Australian Research and Development Institute under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to amend the live import list to include the parasitoid wasp Diaeretus essigellae for release as a biological control agent.
The report has been prepared against the terms of reference for biological control agents and assesses the suitability of D. essigellae for import into Australia.
Comments are invited on the draft report. It is available for public comment for 20 business days, closing on 22 April 2009. All comments received will be provided to the applicant to address in finalising the assessment report. Any relevant information provided will be considered by the Department prior to briefing the minister.
