CHAPTER 12 NATURE CONSERVATION RESERVES

This section briefly summarises terrestrial areas which are declared national parks, fauna reserves, scientific purpose reserves or forestry reserves (as at the middle of 1996), but excludes Aboriginal sites and historic sites (see Table 4). In these reserves all macropod species are totally protected.

Management procedures for macropods includes a continuous assessment of the availability of suitable habitat, particularly in relation to changes in land use, and a continuing increase in the area of land reserved for protection of all wildlife.
