Draft National Wildlife Corridors Plan

Public comments

The Draft National Wildlife Corridors Plan was released on 8 March 2012, after being prepared by an independent National Wildlife Corridors Plan Advisory Group chaired by the Hon Bob Debus, and in consultation with the Australian Government.

In addition to seeking public submissions the Advisory Group and government undertook targeted consultations with stakeholders throughout March and April 2012. The period for written public submissions closed on 20 April 2012.

The Advisory Group will be taking submissions into consideration as they finalise the Draft Plan for the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

The Advisory Group would like to thank all those who provided submissions.

Draft National Wildlife Corridors Plan

The Draft National Wildlife Corridors Plan has been developed by the National Wildlife Corridors Plan Advisory Group for consideration by the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities. The Draft Plan recognises that connectivity is a fundamental requirement of healthy, productive landscapes. It lays the foundation for a new, collaborative, whole-of-landscape approach to biodiversity conservation that is based on voluntary cooperation and the existing efforts of communities, landholders, governments and industry.
