Statement of Significance
Blue Bridge, Geelong-Ballarat railway line, north of Elaine, is a typically representative example of a bluestone bridge carrying a railway over a roadway. This bridge is notable for its design and masonry work, for its landscape importance over the road and for its historical associations with this railway line. The bridge is also representative of bridge building techniques now lost. The boldness of design of the Classically derived engineering structure is of note.
